Lies We Believe Part 1: I'm Helpless
Welcome to Laughlin Community Church's Sunday sermon series, "Lies We Believe." Today, Pastor Ryan takes us on a journey through the powerful message of overcoming the lie of helplessness.
In this eye-opening sermon, we explore insights from the inspiring book, "Get out of Your Head: Stopping the Spiral of Toxic Thoughts" by Jennie Allen. We all have those toxic thoughts that spiral out of control, but are they rooted in one of these three lies: "I'm helpless," "I'm worthless," or "I'm unlovable"?
Join us as we focus on the first lie, "I'm helpless." Pastor Ryan delves into the emotions and feelings that surround this lie and helps us understand that it's not about being as helpless as a baby, but rather feeling powerless over our own circumstances and behavior.
Discover the truth that sets us free: we have the power to change ourselves. Through powerful scriptures like Romans 8:17, we learn that we are co-heirs with Christ, and what belongs to Jesus belongs to us, including strength, authority, and the ability to overcome.
Philippians 4:10–13 reminds us that in any circumstance, we can find contentment and strength through Him who gives us strength. Even when we're battered by troubles, 2 Corinthians 4:8–9 assures us that we won't be demoralized because God is by our side.
In 2 Corinthians 10:5, we're encouraged to use our God-given tools to break down warped philosophies and fit every thought into the structure of life shaped by Christ.
As Pastor Ryan leads us through this sermon, we're reminded that we have a defense in God, as Isaiah 25:4 beautifully portrays.
Don't miss this transformative message that will empower you to reject the lie of helplessness and choose to believe in the strength and authority that God has bestowed upon you. You have the power to be better, stand firm, and conquer any problem you face.
Join us this Sunday at 8 am or 10:30 am and on Tuesday for Bible Study at 6 pm at Laughlin Community Church in Laughlin, NV. Let's grow together in faith and break free from the chains of helplessness. See you there!
